With this holiday season comes a new tradition in Hernando, as Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory debuts its First Annual Christmas Festival, to be celebrated from 1 p.m. until dusk December 12, following the Brooksville Downtown Parade. This colorful outdoor festival of the arts, set to take place on Live Oak grounds at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.

Admission and musical entertainment up for offer at this decorated space will be free; however, a variety of food and family-friendly activities will be available for purchase.  All proceeds will benefit the Live Oak Theatre Company and Conservatory, a 501C3 not-for-profit organization.

The festival will feature entertainment from the Live Oak Theatre Company and the Live Oak Conservatory.

“Everybody has been stuck inside for so long,” said Vince Vanni, Live Oak spokesman. “We’d love to give the community the opportunity to celebrate Christmas.”

Live Oak becomes a winter wonderland at the festival, which will feature a bounce house, games, and a Whoville experience for families, photos with Santa, and food and baked goods available for purchase.

And Live Oak’s sparkling, professionally designed outdoor stage will be the site of holiday-themed performances, featuring the performers of the Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory.

“We’ll have music, dance, and singing,” said Vanni.

These presentations, said Vanni, will give conservatory students the opportunity to display and share the skills they have been unable to show at public performances this year.

“They’ve worked so hard,” he said. “Now they can show what they can do.

Indeed, aside from wholesome holiday entertainment, the Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory First Annual Christmas Festival is all about opportunity; not only for young performers but for vendors who also have had limited opportunities to sell their wares at public events in 2020.

“We want to fill the void,” said Vanni.

While vendors may likely offer holiday gift items, anyone is welcome to apply for the vendor booths, which cost $25 each to reserve. Limited electricity is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to register your booth, email [email protected] or call 352-593-0027.
