Spring Hill man uninjured, Hudson bicyclist dies in collision

A Spring Hill man was uninjured in a collision that claimed the life of a bicyclist from Hudson.

According to Sgt. Steve Gaskins, Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 17 a 37-year-old-man from Spring Hill was driving a pick-up truck northbound on Shoal Line Blvd. south of Cortez Blvd. At the same time, a 55-year-old Hudson man was riding a motorized bicycle with a light northbound on Shoal Line Boulevard ahead of the truck.

The truck overtook the bicycle and collided with it.

Following the impact, the truck came to a controlled stop while the bicycle came to rest in the southbound lane of Shoal Line Blvd.

The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured Gaskins said.
