Dec. 6 was a busy day for members of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office’s (HCSO) Intelligence Unit who assisted in the arrests of four men and one woman wanted on charges ranging from organized fraud to grand theft auto.

HCSO Deputy Public Information Officer (PIO) Michael Terry said that on Dec. 6, detectives from the Intelligence Unit helped locate in the Grove Mobile Home Park (formerly the Oaks Mobile Home Park) a man and a woman both wanted for questioning in an active investigation. The pair also had active warrants for an organized fraud and theft case.

Law enforcement personnel subsequently arrested Steven Slattery, 36, and 35-year-old Amber Durey at the scene without incident. Both are being held at the Hernando County Detention Center.

While making the arrests, detectives received a tip about another person staying at the same mobile home park.

Acting on that tip, they arrested 26-year-old James Morrow inside a residence at the mobile home park. He was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on narcotics charges, and is also being held at the Hernando County Detention Center.

Intelligence Unit detectives also helped locate Austin Rhinesmith, 21, wanted because he failed to register his status as a sex offender. Arrested at the HCSO office in Brooksville, Rhinesmith is also being held at the Hernando County Detention Center.

Finally, detectives from the Intelligence Unit located a vehicle parked at a residence in the Tall Oaks Mobile Home Park in Brooksville that had been used to flee detectives earlier this month.

After obtaining permission to search the residence where the vehicle was found, detectives discovered 27-year-old Dezem Flannagan hiding under a bed there. Flannigan was arrested on an active warrant for Grand Theft Auto.
