The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has received initial reports of flooding in coastal Hernando County. Floodwater is beginning to flow over parts of Pine Island Drive and Bayou Drive. The increase in water level is attributed to high winds on the gulf and the early onset of high tide.

The Hernando County Road Department is currently assessing the area to determine possible road closures.

The Sheriff’s Office advises motorists to avoid the area now and during high tide which will be between 2 pm and 3 pm.

Additional information will be provided as it’s made available.
