A full and vibrant spectrum of rhythmic popular tunes will be performed February 26th and 27th. These sweet sounds come courtesy of the Hernando Symphony Orchestra (HSO), a community institution and premier pops orchestra now celebrating its 39th season. HSO will present “Spectrum” at 7:30 pm on Saturday, February 26th and at 2 pm on Sunday, the 27th. This event will be located at St. Frances Cabrini, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill.

“We are so excited to present our ‘Spectrum’ concert to you, with music from Silverado, The Blues, Brothers, Jersey Boys, Band of Brothers, The Prince of Egypt and more!” said Michele DiLuzio, HSO conductor. “We will be performing a special piece to pay tribute to HSO members whom we have lost over our 39 years. Utilizing the electronic boards, each member’s name and their affiliation with the orchestra will display during the playing of this very special piece.”

Indeed, this performance will most literally cover every note, rhythm and cadence of a vast musical spectrum; also featuring selections from Skydance, Chariots of Fire and Shenandoah Simple Gifts, and more. “It was so wonderful to be back in action in December for our Sounds of the Season concert series. We are very excited to present our Spectrum series in February. Music for this concert will showcase styles from all sides of the musical Spectrum,” said DiLuzio, HSO conductor. “We will cover music from the movies, television, the Olympics, as well as a medley of American Folk Songs, and a special In Memoriam piece to pay tribute to all members of the orchestra who have passed over the years.”

DiLuzio promises a fun and very lively show; one delivered by an orchestra committed to a mission to promote community interest in music of high standards, to provide musicians of all ages an opportunity to perform in a symphony orchestra, and to provide scholarship funds to promote string education in Hernando County.
