Letter to the Editor: The origin of the first tree lighting in Brooksville, Fla.

My name is Rick, and I recently retired from Hernando County government broadcasting (HCGB). When I started the video production for the county, I did the first parade in 1998. And then in 1999, I started the first tree lighting for the county in front of the courthouse. The tree was a 12-foot tree up on top of the steps of the courthouse and that was donated by a tree farm in the community. I had been videotaping the tree lighting up until the present year. But handed off the tree as an idea to Barbara Manuel to have them maybe get a tree like they have now. I asked Barbara Manuel to bring it to the Brooksville Main Street organization and then the rest is history. I wanted to bring it to your attention. Your article was spot on. I do appreciate your time.

Sincerely, Rick Foti
