For their final concert series of the 22-23 season, the Hernando Symphony Orchestra will be presenting a lush kaleidoscope of sounds, a performance that is sure to please your ears and capture your imagination.

The Hernando Symphony Orchestra, a volunteer pops orchestra, was formed in 1982 with a lineup of 13 musicians and a definite mission: Promote community interest in music of high standards, provide musicians of all ages an opportunity to perform in a symphony orchestra, and provide scholarship funds to promote string education in Hernando County. The orchestra performs regular season concerts in the months of December, February, and April, in addition to special concerts that occur throughout the year. The ticket sales and contributions will help support the orchestra’s mission activities.

The HSO Kaleidoscope Concert will be performed on Saturday, April 29, at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, April 30, at 2 pm in the main church at St. Frances Cabrini, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. “Our upcoming Kaleidoscope series will be the final series of our 22-23 season,” said Michele DiLuzio, conductor of the Hernando Symphony Orchestra. “It will include past favorites from our 40-year history as well as several new songs.”

The symphony will perform stirring old favorites from their archives, including popular theme songs from the “007: James Bond” series of hit spy films, the theme song from “Ice Castles,” a timeless romance film, the Celtic favorite “Lord of the Dance,” the lovely “Moonlight Serenade” and the much-beloved theme song from the motion picture “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”

New music will include a colorful, highly rhythmic array of musical compositions, many of which claim theatrical roots. These include selections from “Porgy & Bess,” “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “At the Movies with John Williams,” “La Paloma” and “The Greatest Showman.”

“This has been a very busy and exciting season for us as we celebrated our 40th season this year,” said DiLuzio. Tickets may be purchased online by visiting hernandosymphony.com or at the door one hour before each concert begins. St. Frances Cabrini is not sponsoring this concert, they are only providing the venue. All ticket purchases and questions must go through the orchestra. Call 352-584-1210 with any questions.

The symphony also has some exciting news to report regarding its upcoming concert series, an announcement sure to be music to the ears of the most loyal HSO fans. The symphony will reduce its season ticket price to $36 per person beginning next season (2023-2024).
