Notes from the Museums: Metaphysical Mingle

The May-Stringer Museum normally presents the history of Hernando County with tours of the late 1800s home and collections several days a week. However, when the sun goes down the building takes on another layer of history….that of the paranormal.

The museum will host a celebration of that side (some say the dark-side) of the spiritualism that was popular in the Victorian Era. On Saturday, May 6 the grounds of 601 Museum Court will be crowded with 35 vendors who will include mediums, psychics, tarot readers and purveyors of crystals, herbs and books, among other fascinating articles. Talks will be presented on the Victorian Spiritualism practices as well as discussions on Victorian mourning traditions.

Food trucks will provide meals and snacks as well as cold beverages. A cool down area will be available for relief from the heat and weather. There will be FREE admission to outside activities and Museum tours will be $10 for adults/$5 for children five-nine years old. On Saturday, May 6 starting at 10 am and ending at 4 pm. The last house tour will be at 3:30 pm.
