The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) is inviting residents to visit Florida’s Wildlife Management Areas and use their phones to play a game during Florida WildQuest 2023. The game uses the Goosechase app to provide challenges for people participating in the game.
The Goosechase app is available in both the Apple and Google stores. Once you have downloaded and installed the app, the code you need to play the WildQuest 2023 game is EP5ZP7.

The contest has you performing a number of missions. They can range from taking a picture of the entrance sign to taking pictures of specific wildlife and habitat. Qualifying players will be part of a random drawing that will award wilderness-inspired prizes.

This contest is a chance to experience the nature portion of the Nature Coast. The WildQuest missions can serve as a gateway for people to enjoy the Wildlife Management Areas. The trails are usually well-marked, and the distance is specified, so you know how far you will be going.

Hernando County is home to a large number of wildlife areas, and the ones participating in this challenge are the Chassahowitzka (2), Chinsegut (2), and Perry Oldenburg Wildlife and Environmental Areas.

Some trails are shadier than others, so if you plan to go in the heat of the day, try to find a shady trail. One of the missions is a selfie of yourself and your water bottle, so remember to bring water to stay hydrated.

WildQuest is a novel way to entice people to visit the Wildlife Management Areas. This is a yearly event, so if you don’t have a chance to enjoy it this year, you can always check it out next year.
