A motorcyclist from Spring Hill died after his vehicle collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the intersection of Cortez Boulevard and Devlin Street. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that just after 10 pm on Sept. 17, an SUV driven by a 57-year-old woman from Spring Hill was traveling south on Devlin Street approaching Cortez Boulevard when a motorcycle driven by an 18-year-old man also from Spring Hill was traveling westbound on Cortez Boulevard. When the driver of the SUV failed to yield at a stop sign, that vehicle entered the intersection into the path of the motorcycle, which subsequently collided with the left side of the SUV. On impact, the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, was ejected from his vehicle and collided with a pick-up truck that was parked at 8129 Cortez Blvd.
The Brooksville teen was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the incident.
