The County will acquire the property necessary for the Barclay Road expansion under eminent domain without a court battle. Owners of Register RV Sales agreed to an undisputed eminent domain action and will receive $2,271,560 for the property from Transportation Impact Fee revenue. The cost includes real estate damages ($1,209,139), business damages ($791,861), attorney fees ($193,060) and expert fees ($78,500).
According to County Administrator Jeff Rogers, the county is acquiring a 55- to 85-foot portion of the 10.3-acre property. It is located adjacent to the west side of Barclay Road, south of Cortez Boulevard.
The Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the resolution on March 26.
