A Florida Department of Corrections probation officer, Raul Marrero, who was accused of inappropriately touching his probationers, has been sentenced to two years in jail for misdemeanor battery.

In January 2022, the first victim came forward, stating that Marrero inappropriately touched and kissed her when he visited her home for probationary reasons, as well as while she was a patient at a local hospital. After she reported this to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Corrections (DOC), the two entities began a cooperative investigation. The DOC reassigned Marrero to another position within DOC and stipulated that he have no contact with females.

A second victim surfaced in April 2022 and a third victim in October of 2022. Both accused Marrero of inappropriately touching and kissing them during his probationary visits to their homes. Further cooperative investigations were initiated.

The investigations led to Marerro’s arrest in Dec. 2022 on three counts of misdemeanor battery.
