Brooksville Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking and Weapons Charges

BROOKSVILLE, Fl.—A traffic stop in the Hill ‘n Dale community on Tuesday led to the arrest of a Brooksville man on drug trafficking and weapons charges, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Vice and Narcotics Proactive Unit stopped a vehicle near Cortez Boulevard and Spring Lake Highway after identifying the driver, Paul Galloway, 40, as having a suspended license.

During the stop, deputies observed Galloway toss a black object out of the window before rolling the vehicle forward. Officers had to reach inside the vehicle to bring it to a complete stop.

The discarded object was recovered and found to contain a loaded firearm and various narcotics, including 35 grams of methamphetamine, 9.2 grams of cocaine, 1.1 grams of fentanyl and 7.7 grams of marijuana. Deputies also recovered drug paraphernalia and $2,565 in cash.

Galloway, a convicted felon, was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including armed trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, possession of fentanyl, cocaine, acid, Oxycodone and marijuana, fleeing to elude law enforcement, driving with a suspended or revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities confirmed that Galloway’s charges carry significant penalties due to the severity of the trafficking offense.
