A Spring Hill man was arrested for possession of child pornography on May 1, after authorities discovered Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on his social media account.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation following a tip regarding the possession of child pornography. Detectives identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jacob Peter Gorman. Their investigation found that Gorman had posted photos of himself from his youth that contained CSAM.
They also found that Gorman had sent the inappropriate photos to 14 separate users’ accounts, claiming to be between the ages of 12 and 18 years old when messaging users.
On April 22, detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit questioned Gorman regarding the email address linked to the social media account in question. Gorman admitted ownership of both the account and the email.
He was taken into custody at his Chesterfield Drive residence on May 1 and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He is being held without bond on the child pornography charges, while bond for the communication device charge was set at $5,000.
