Notes from the Museums: Roses Restored

Susanne Whelan is a regular reader of the Hernando Sun. A few months ago, she saw a note here about the Stringer Roses painting that needed restoration. When she toured the May-Stringer and saw the painting in person, she became inspired to sponsor the restoration of the work of art. The painting was taken to the studio of Burgin & Brown in Wimauma, Florida, where the skilled work of Heather Brown brought the roses back to vibrant colors. Layers of dirt and smoke particles were removed. Ms. Brown also restored the gold frame to complete the restoration.

Ms. Whelan visited the museum again last week and was more than pleased to see what wonders the painstaking work had produced. The painting was the original gift to the museum by Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lewis and continues to be cared for and admired.
