Linda Prescott Remembered

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, a remembrance of life was held for former Hernando County school board member Linda Prescott. In attendance were family and friends, current and former school board members, as well as the current and former superintendent.

Linda served in many capacities as an educator. At her memorial, a pamphlet stated, “Linda was a lifelong educator and had the opportunity to teach in middle schools, high schools, community colleges, universities, private schools, adult education schools, and even a women’s prison.”

She was elected to the school board in 2016 and was reelected in 2020. She served as chair of the board during her tenure.

The remembrance was kept light. Members of her family spoke about being Irish and told funny stories about Linda. Her brother recounted a time when he went to visit her for the weekend and surprised her. He mentioned that this was upsetting for her because she always liked her hair and makeup to be perfect.

After a bit, she wanted to have a serious conversation with him. He was worried because those conversations are usually not much fun. Linda started out with a somber, ‘I am worried about your sister’s memory.’ Apparently, she had been told that he was coming to visit and forgot.

The following is her obituary.
