The 2019 Challenge will be from Saturday, January 19 to Wednesday, March 27. The GHWLC challenges team of 10 to commit to losing 10 pounds per person in 10 weeks.
The GHWLC is a community health initiative designed to support efforts to increase the number of area residents living at a healthy weight. Being overweight increases the risk of heart attack, stroke & diabetes. Communities with higher percentages of overweight and obese residents have increased health care costs
Oak Hill Hospital Invites the Public to “Hops for Hearts” Fundraiser
Spring Hill, Florida – Oak Hill Hospital invites the public to a Hops for Hearts Fundraiser on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Tidal Brewing Company, 14311 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida 34609. Hops for Hearts is a fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association Heart Walk Team Oak Hill Hospital.
Oak Hill Hospital invites the public to enjoy local craft beer, the company of good friends, 50/50 chance drawings and entertainment provided by the acoustic guitar of Nathan Allen. Five percent of all proceeds from the evening will be donated to the American Heart Association.

Dr. Hamoui specializes in urology and interventional radiology. He is board eligible in urology and board certified in interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology. Dr Hamoui is one of only two people in the country/world with dual training in urology and radiology/IR (Interventional Radiology).
Dr. Hamoui returns to Hernando County from Chicago, Illinois, where he served as Chief Resident at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He completed internship in general and urological surgery; residency in diagnostic radiology, fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology, and residency in urology all at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He graduated his final residency in June 2018.
Dr. Hamoui received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, where he also served as a clinical research fellow (National Institutes of Health). He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables.
Dr. Hamoui is the recipient of 2018 Humanism in Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the 2017 first place for clinical research at the annual Charles Huggins Resident essay contest of the Chicago Urologic Society.
Oak Hill Hospital hosts a Congestive Heart Failure education series for those living with congestive heart failure (CHF).
The meeting is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except holidays) on the Oak Hill Hospital campus in Administrative Conference Room 1 on the first floor of the South Tower. The next session will be held on Tuesday, November 27. The series is held from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm and is hosted by Oak Hill Hospital’s Care Assure Patient Nurse Navigators Rebecca Voda, BSN, RN, CHFN (Certified Heart Failure Nurse) and Lisa Cierpka, BSN, RN, CCM (Certified Case Manager), CV-SHD (Cardiovascular Structural Heart Disease). The monthly education series helps those who attend to gain a sense of empowerment and control through the education provided by these clinicians. Participants will reduce stress and anxiety by learning more about this chronic disease and they will be able to collaborate with others who have the same chronic condition. Tools to Quit
Oak Hill Hospital announces that it is partnering with AHEC to offer a FREE seminar to help tobacco users quit. “Tools to Quit” will be held on November 27, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Oak Hill Hospital GME Conference Center, Room C, 11307 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34613.
The single-session program will provide you with the valuable tools you need to help you quit tobacco. These include: how to prepare a plan that works for you, specific ways to deal with cravings, what physical and emotional symptoms to expect and how to cope with them effectively, as well as four FREE weeks of patches, gum or lozenges while supplies last. The program is sponsored by Tobacco Free Florida.

Super Sibling – December 15 – 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Childbirth Preparation – December 18 -19 – 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm both evenings

Spring Hill, FL – United Way of Hernando County is hosting their annual Dementia Care Seminar for families and professional caregivers focusing on loved ones living with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. This FREE seminar is open to the community and offers educational and interactive discussions highlighting struggles, solutions, and the power of hope.
During this seminar you will learn helpful tips, hear motivating stories, and gain knowledge from compelling speakers. Gary LeBlanc, a local author and caregiver, and Linda Burhans, national speaker on caregiver advocacy, will be sharing their experience through the journey of caregiving.
