2019-2020 Season

Guard- Talon Bergantino, Central, JR: Can’t underscore how important Bergantino has been to the success of Central’s basketball team the last couple of seasons. After helping the Bears get on the rise last season, Central took another step. Bergantino averaged just under 13 points, three assists and four rebounds per game.

Guard- Unique Torain, Springstead, JR: With Unique’s brother having graduated, more of the scoring load was pressed upon his shoulders and he answered the bell. After averaging 17.4 points per game last season, Torain bumped his average up to 19.3 per game and helped Springstead go 17-8.

Forward- Landon Carter, Hernando, JR: Though the Leopards went 4-21 in 2019-2020, Hernando did have a couple players that were able to stand out. One of them was Carter, who was one of the top scorers in Hernando County. Carter averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and knocked down 70 3-pointers.

Forward- Jacob Batten, Hernando, SR: Batten was the other player the Leopards relied heavily on, though Hernando won just four games. Batten was still able to put together another solid campaign in 2019-2020, as the senior averaged 13.1 points per game and seven rebounds. The 6-foot-4 forward created a good tandem with Carter.

Center- Rashaad Boyce, Central, SR: Though Bergantino was the floor general that helps make everything go for the Bears, Boyce always made sure the paint area was clear. The 6-foot-5 forward/center averaged a team-high 15 points a game and grabbed 11.4 rebounds a contest.

Utility- Tre Joyner, Central, SO: The Bears have guys like Bergantino and Boyce that were the mainstays, but Joyner was a great third option as a sophomore coming in. The sophomore sensation averaged 12.7 points per game and helped Central reach a record of 20-7 in 2019-2020.
