Credit Card skimmers have been found at two more gas stations in Hernando County. One at gas pumps at the Sunoco Station at 7170 Barclay Ave in Brooksville and the other at the Sunoco in the City of Brooksville, 765 S Broad St.
On 12-30-14, Joan Heward reported that after checking the balance on her Wells Fargo company checking account, she discovered numerous unauthorized transactions. The
unauthorized transactions totaled over $9,000. All of the transactions appeared to have occurred over the internet and none were authorized by Heward or any other account holder. The debit card used to make each transaction was in Heward’s name.
On January 23, 2015, at approximately 2:35 a.m., the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a teletype message from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office regarding a shooting that had occurred in Citrus County. The teletype message requested that Hernando County deputies attempt to locate an individual that may have knowledge of and/or been involved in the
shooting.
On 08-14-14, Laurel Nowell, of Apache Junction, Ariz., called the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office to report former classmate and friend, Tammy Jo Alexander W/F DOB 11/02/1963, as missing. Nowell said Alexander, who attended Hernando High School, went missing sometime between 1977 and 1979.
Alexander’s family never reported her as a missing person to any law enforcement agency. Investigators made contact with Sharen Nelson, Alexander’s stepsister, who lives in
Lakeland, and confirmed Alexander was missing and that the family had never reported it to authorities.
