Rays send two to All-Star Game

The Tampa Bay Rays, currently sitting at second place in the American League East, are getting some representation at the All-Star game this year. For the third year in a row, the Rays have two players named to the AL All-Star team. This year pitcher Charlie Morton and outfielder Austin Meadows will play in Cleveland on July 9.

Though neither player will start the game, both Morton and Meadows have played at the level expected of All-Star players so far this season.

Another Record to Fall for the Lightning This Season

If it wasn’t already known that Steven Stamkos has become one of the best players to ever put on a Lightning jersey, scoring career goal number 383 will help prove that point. In what has already been an exceptional season for the Tampa Bay Lightning, that high mark has been reached. With that goal total, Stamkos matched Vinny Lecavalier’s franchise record for goals scored in their career in the team’s 5-4 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thurs. March 14.

Saint Leo Looking to Bring Football to University

On Thursday, Jan 10 and Friday, Jan 11, Saint Leo University held a series of focus groups to begin the process of bringing a football program back to the school. This is the latest step by University President Jeffrey Senese to grow Saint Leo’s attendance. These focus groups are not a guarantee that the school will bring a football program, but are more set as a groundwork to test the feasibility of re-fielding a team.
