Detectives Investigating Two Commercial Robberies in Spring Hill

On 02-19-19 just after 4 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General store, located at 331 Commercial Way in Spring Hill, regarding a Commercial Robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the clerk who advised that a white male approached the register with some candy.  As the clerk was scanning the items, the male stated, in a deep voice, to "keep the register open."  The clerk believed the male needed change and was not initially alarmed.

On 02-19-19 just after 4 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General store, located at 331 Commercial Way in Spring Hill, regarding a Commercial Robbery.

Missing Endangered Adult – Keyonna Cole

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from our media partners and the community in locating a MISSING ENDANGERED ADULT.

Keyonna Cole was last seen on 02-10-19 at approximately 11 p.m. in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Brooksville as she was walking toward Broad Street.

Cole was the victim of an attempted homicide in October of 2018, which resulted in the homicide of her unborn 5-month-old fetus.

Investigators are actively looking for Cole and believe she is in danger.

Four Juveniles Charged with Armed Residential Burglary and Grand Theft

On 01-30-19 just before 7 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to 13289 Sun Road in Brooksville regarding a Residential Burglary. 

Upon arrival, deputies met with the homeowner, Donald Swafford.  Swafford told deputies that sometime between 7 a.m. and 6:65 p.m. [sic] that day, unknown person(s) had burglarized his home.  During the burglary numerous items were taken, including two firearms.  Swafford also noted that at least one of the firearms had been fired during the burglary, as a fired round was located in the mattress in the master bedroom.

K-9 Justice Helps Apprehend Domestic Battery Suspect

On 01-24-19, Hernando County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 8386 Evergreen Ave., Brooksville in reference to a physical altercation.

During the physical altercation, Jennifer Birkel, the victim, said her boyfriend, Trevor Schreffler, W/M DOB/04-20-1989, punched her in the face.

Birkel said when she regained consciousness after being punched she began screaming for help.  Birkel said Schreffler would not allow her to leave the camper until she stopped screaming.

Prior to deputies arriving on scene, Schreffler barricaded himself inside the camper.

K-9 Argo Apprehends Residential Burglary Suspect

On 01-15-19 just after 5 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to apartment 255 at the Spring Haven Apartments regarding a Residential Burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies met with Michelle Andre, who advised that her ex-boyfriend, James Soard, came to her apartment around 5 p.m. on 01-14-19 but she did not let him in.  Andre told deputies she believed that Soard slept in a vehicle in the parking lot overnight. 

Man Killed in Helicopter Accident at Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport

On 01-10-19 at about 3:35 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff's deputies responded to 16308 Flight Path Drive in Brooksville in reference to a death investigation.

The caller stated he and another individual were using a power cart to jumpstart a helicopter when, for an unknown reason, the helicopter suddenly jerked up and then came down.

This motion caused the main rotor blades to strike one of the men, who was working on the helicopter, in the head.

The man, who has been identified as Salvatore Disi W/M DOB/04-16-1956, was killed instantly.

Efforts of Deputies and Telecommunicators Help Save Suicidal Woman

On 01-07-19 Hernando County Sheriff's deputies were called to a residence in Spring Hill regarding a suicidal female.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who advised the female left the residence on foot, earlier, to "cool off" after having a disagreement with someone in the residence.

After being gone for over 30 minutes, the female began sending text messages to persons back at the residence, indicating she wanted to commit suicide.  She refused to provide her location and/or answer any incoming calls.
