Appalachian Road Show to Appear at SYR in Brooksville

The Appalachian Road Show is excited to come back to Sertoma Youth Ranch again this year! They’re wrapping up their second album in their Nashville Studio but they had time to stop by and visit again!

Their Grammy-Nominated Fiddler, Jim VanCleve, graciously took the time to have an interview with us.

Here is his interview and unique story he shared with reporter, Jessica Williams.

The Sertoma Youth Ranch: Musicians and Munchkins

Under an old shade tree, there is a small wooden stand, with a soft-spoken greeter who sits and waits to welcome visitors arriving for a music festival. It’s a secluded spot on the outskirts of Hernando County, down a little dirt road. This happens quite often at the uniquely, tucked away oasis called The Sertoma Youth Ranch which sits close to the Pasco County line. The large pavilion provides a well-shaded ambiance to enjoy the energy-filled live performances of artists and musicians that have lined up for the occasion.

Check out Local Band Free to Be

It is alway exciting to discover new local talent. We have seen a local band on a few occasions and enjoy their music.

Free to be is fronted by two sisters Mina Cole and Marelle Cole. They compose and sing Alternative Pop/Rock songs. The have a number of original songs and have released an Extended play cd "Who We Are" and have it on on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, and Bandcamp. An Extended play is a shorter than an album, but contains several songs.

The Roys at Sertoma Youth Ranch Thanksgiving Bluegrass Fest 2015

The Sertoma Youth Ranch is hosting their 36th Annual Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival. It continues through today, November 28th.

The ranch is filled with campers and Bluegrass musicians as well as vendors selling their homemade crafts to fresh squeezed lemonade.
The festival originally started out country, until a promoter by the name of Steve Dittmas moved them into Bluegrass. They’ve kept those committed followers, however the game plan is to bring in the newer generation.

A great opportunity for kids: the Hernando Youth Orchestra

Weeki Wachee - With the cutbacks that public schools are making to music programs, kids are more dependent on the community to provide musical opportunities. One of these opportunities is the Hernando Youth Orchestra. The Youth Orchestra rehearses Sunday afternoons from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at The Heather Community Center, 9100 Nakoma Way, Weeki Wachee, FL. Parents and visitors are welcome at practices.

The Fast 4 Ward Band returns to the Florida Country Superfest

The Fast 4 Ward Band is a local country band with members from Hernando and Pasco. The name of the band is a play on words since there are 4 band members plus Dusty Ward the lead singer and founder. The other four members are Nate Johnson on Bass, Joe Lyons plays Lead Guitar, Vinny Androsiglio provides Rhythm, and Frankie Vanderhoef is on Drums. The Band has been around for 4 years.
