Louise Sophie Babineau

Franklin, NH – Louise Sophie (Kiloczki) Babineau, 95, of Franklin, passed away at Peabody Place on June 14, 2024.
Born in Altoona, PA on October 18, 1928, the daughter of Stella and John Kiloczki. The family moved to Franklin in 1932. Sophie attended St. Mary Parochial School and was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of ’46.
Sophie married Robert O. Babineau on November 20, 1948, and began their young family on Central Street in Franklin. They eventually moved just over the town line into Tilton. She was a homemaker while Bob worked for over forty years at the Johns-Manville plant in Tilton. While taking care of their young family, Sophie also managed the Rest A-Y-L Tourist Home renting out several rooms to tourists and temporary workers. After the youngest of their four children (at that time) started first grade, Sophie went to work as part of the kitchen staff at the local elementary school where she spent the next forty-plus years. After they both retired they moved back to Franklin where Sophie and Bob loved to walk downtown and spend time with friends and several of Sophie’s sisters who lived nearby.
As their Children grew and spread out across the country, Sophie and Bob moved to Spring Hill, Florida where they enjoyed the beach, going to yard sales, attending Mass and made many new friends. While in Spring Hill, Bob passed away in 2004. Sophie stayed active in Spring Hill until moving back to Franklin in 2021.
Sophie’s family includes sons David J. (Cheryl) Babineau (CA), Robert J. (Billie) Babineau (FL), Richard A. (Maria) Babineau (NH) and daughter Jo-Ann (Brian) Griffin (NH). She was predeceased by her daughter Dr. Susan Babineau (VT).
Grandchildren include Lisa Gaboriault (VT), Kyle Babineau (CA), Tyler Babineau (fiancé Sarah Atkinson) (NH), Jennifer Laramie (Keith) (NH), Michelle Peters (PA), Alison (Andy) Kamataris (VA), Stormie Griffin (fiancé James Bellamy) (CO).
Great-grandchildren include Kaitlyn Gaboriault (fiancé Jesse Booska) (VT), Madison and Joshua Peters (PA), Hannah and Kaitlyn Laramie (NH), Taylor Kamataris (VA), Aubrey Babineau (NH).
She was predeceased by, sister Mary Piekarz, sister Stella Newcomb and sister Anna Mayo.
Additional family members include sister Katherine Dickens (VA), sister Helen Bilodeau (NH) and sister Lillian Kurowski (NH).
At Sophie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gabriel’s Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Her wishes were for no flowers.
