Margaret Ann Porter Middleton

Franklin, TN – Margaret Ann Porter Middleton, age 96, went home to be with the Lord December 9, 2021 surrounded by family at home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who was born October 21, 1925, to parents, Grover Cleveland Porter and Emily Gertrude Wells Porter, in Petersburg, Virginia. As a young wife, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, the hometown of her husband Bob, who served in the Army during World War II. There they raised their three sons and lived until their retirement in 1985, when they relocated to Florida, first Zephyrhills and then Spring Hill. In 2013, Margaret moved to Franklin, TN to be near family.

During her very active life, she was a valued employee of Rogers Markets in Fort Wayne for 24 years, where she was known for her friendly smile and customer service skills. Every weekend the family traveled to Bay Point Marina and Yacht Club near Sandusky Ohio, where they were Charter members and enjoyed many years of boating with family and friends. After she became a widow in 2001, she joined the Red Hat Society and the Spring Hill Friendly Singles, making many new friends. She loved dancing and even into her 80’s, loved to line dance at the Club House in her neighborhood. When asked how she was doing, she often answered “I’m still kickin’, just not as high!”

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert D. Middleton, and son, Richard D. Middleton. She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Margery) Middleton of Franklin, TN, and James (Linda) Middleton of Fort Wayne, IN: grandchildren, Michele L. Perez, Matthew (Amie) Middleton, Robert D. Middleton II, Lori Middleton, William Middleton, Heather Middleton, and Alec Middleton: great grandchildren, Reis Middleton, Vincent Isaac Perez Jr., and Michael Shane Middleton; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Margaret attended Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Florida, and attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin with family.

A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 136 3rd Avenue South, Franklin, TN at 10:30 am January 17, 2022, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will take place in April of 2022 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, along side her husband.
