Spring Hill Man Sentenced to 25-Years in Prison for Killing his Mother

A 53-year-old Spring Hill man was recently sentenced to 25-years in prison in connection with the death of his 74-year-old mother.

Albert Nickerson Jr. was found guilty of Aggravated Manslaughter of an Elderly Person and Neglect of an Elderly Person.

He was arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office back in 2017 following a yearlong investigation into the suspicious death of his mother, Beverly Nickerson.

On 09-24-2016, Beverly Nickerson was found deceased in her home.

Beverly lived with her son, Albert Nickerson.

Louisiana Man Arrested on Numerous Sex Charges Involving Teen

Date: September 29, 2020

On 09-27-2020 at 4 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in Spring Hill where the parents of a teenager found an adult man hiding in their child’s bedroom.

When deputies arrived on scene they found the man, later identified as Johnathan Lee Rossmoine DOB/08-19-1984, still hiding in the victim’s closet.

Hernando High Student Arrested for Bringing Firearm onto Campus

On 09-15-2020 at 2:45 p.m., several students at Hernando High School advised School Resource Deputy Chris Downey that they observed a student in possession of a firearm on school grounds.

The student was identified as Demetrius Roberts Jr. DOB/11-26-2003.

The students advised Roberts was showing off the firearm during class.

Deputy Downey discovered Roberts had already boarded a school bus to go home.

Miami Couple Arrested in Organized Fraud Investigation in Spring Hill

Security personnel at Cellular Sales Corporate contacted the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in regards to possible identity theft occurring at a Spring Hill authorized dealer.

Security personnel indicated an employee was helping two individuals identified as Joshua Lorenzo DOB/08-27-1998 and Jolena Montano DOB/08-20-1999 obtain numerous cell phones using fraudulent identities.

Stabbing Leads to Homicide Arrest on Peyton Place 8/19/2020

On 08-19-20 at approximately 5:22 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies and Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) were dispatched to the 19000 block of Peyton Place in Brooksville regarding a Stabbing.

The caller, a mail carrier, reported turning on to Peyton Place and seeing three children looking at a man who was lying in the grass. The mail carrier then heard screaming and a male voice say, “Help, I’m dying.”

Hernando County Deputy Uses Drone to Locate Missing Special Needs Child in Northern Pasco County

On 08-16-20 just before 1 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to the area of Squirrel Prairie Road (Hernando County) and McMullen Road (Pasco County) to assist the Pasco Sheriff’s Office in locating a Missing Endangered Juvenile.

Upon arrival, Hernando County Deputy Josh Mitro met with Pasco County Deputy Topham.
Deputy Topham explained the Missing Juvenile was an 11-year-old with two prosthetic legs and multiple special needs.

HCSO arrests dog owner on animal cruelty after man attacked leaving friends house

Update

On 08-12-20, Deputy William Harsanyi drafted a warrant for the arrest of Colleen Meyer.

The warrant was presented to the Honorable Judge Donald Barbee and ultimately signed, charging Meyer with nine counts of Animal Cruelty.

The warrant was issued/signed as a result of Meyer leaving one adult female dog and eight newborn puppies unattended in an enclosed and unventilated travel trailer with no air conditioning, food, or water. The temperature inside the travel trailer was extreme.

Man Attacked by Dogs After Leaving Friend's House

On 08-08-20 just before noon, Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputies, Animal Enforcement Officers (AEO), and Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) were dispatched to 5370 California Street in Brooksville regarding a Dog Attack.

The caller told the 9-1-1 operator a man was being attacked by three dogs. The caller then disconnected.

Another caller reporting incident stated two of the three dogs had run off, and the other one was currently contained in a travel trailer on the property.

HCSO detectives arrest suspect in Sping Lake death investigation

On 07-26-20 just before 5 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Spring Lake Highway just south of Hayman Road in (Spring Lake) Brooksville to investigate a report of a person “down” on the west side of the roadway.

Deputies and Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services arrived on scene to locate a female on the side of the road. The female was pronounced deceased at 5:05 a.m.

Homicide suspect Sean Michael McMullen arrested in Tampa

Sean Michael McMullen who was wanted in connection to a homicide that occurred on U.S. 301 North (Treiman Boulevard) in Ridge Manor on 04-12-20 has been captured in Tampa today, August 5th. Hernando County Sheriff detectives and the US Marshals Service made the arrest. Detectives and U.S. Marshals would like to thank the numerous citizens who have provided tips regarding the whereabouts of McMullen.

McMullen was charged as follows:
• Second Degree Murder w/a Deadly Weapon
• No Bond.
