• Deputies responded to:
o Arson – East of the Intersection of Loretto Street and Lydia Court/Spring Hill – Deputies responded to a vehicle fire where a 2019 Nissan truck was in engulfed in flames. The Fire Marshal responded to the scene to assist in the investigation – Investigation active.
o Death Investigation – 3384 Mission Way Drive/Spring Hill – 53 YOA Female – Investigation active. 
o Grand Theft (Recovery) – 5370 California Street/Brooksville – Stolen VIP 50cc scooter was recovered at 7185 Holiday Drive/Spring Hill – Investigation active.

• Deputies responded to:
o Vehicle Burglary x4 – Sterling Hill Subdivision (Arborglades Village)
 All vehicles UNLOCKED
 Copperhill and Benesbrook
o Traffic Stop – Spring Hill Drive/Port Court/Spring Hill – Deputies located 223.13 grams of marijuana, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and $660 in cash – Arrest/Male.
o Traffic Stop – Cobblestone Drive/Pinehurst Drive/Spring Hill – Deputies located marijuana as follows – 16.6 grams, 147.34 grams, and 183.88 grams (all packaged separately) – Arrest – Male.

o Suspicious Incident – Sexual Predator cut off ankle monitor and fled the area – Active.
o Commercial Robbery – Family Dollar/10620 Northcliffe Boulevard/Spring Hill – Active.
o Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon x2 – 1130 Sheffield Road/Spring Hill – Arrest/Female.

Absconded Sexual Predator - William Haverty 5/10/19

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating an Absconded Sexual Predator.

Weight – 200 pounds
Hair – Brown
Eyes – Blue

On this date at approximately 4 p.m., Haverty cut off his ankle monitor and fled from his home located at 11811 Broad Street in Brooksville, after learning of pending criminal charges.

Care Line Program Saves Another Life

Sheriff Al Nienhuis is pleased to report that the Care Line Program saved another life today.

Earlier today, when the 101-year-old Care Line client did not call in at her designated time, the Care Line clerks attempted to call her. The client did not answer.

After meeting with negative results when attempting to contact friends and neighbors (listed as emergency contacts), Care Line clerks requested a unit be dispatched to conduct a Well-Being Check on the client.

• Deputies responded to:
o Retail Theft – Sav A Lot/Cortez Boulevard/Brooksville – B/M was observed stealing meat from the store – Deputy caught up w/suspect (on a bicycle) at Cortez/Main – Suspect fled on foot, leaving behind numerous bags of stolen meat from Sav A Lot, Walmart, and Publix – Active investigation.
o Violation of Domestic Violence Injunction – 2491 Fairview Road/Spring Hill – Deputies dispatched to a separate call for service observed a male present at this address who they knew was recently served with an Injunction for Protection – Arrest/Male,

Update - Arrest Made - Spring Hill Man Sought for Dragging Dog Down Roadway

Update 5/9/19

On 05-08-19 just after 9 p.m., deputies conducting proactive patrols in the area of Commercial Way and the Outback Steakhouse observed a vehicle believed to be the one described in the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for the animal cruelty incident (arrest warrant).

Deputy Vincent Spallino conducted a Traffic Stop on the green Ford F-150 at Frontage Road just off Commercial Way in front of the Microtel. The driver of the F-150 was identified as Gregory Tousignant.

Man Arrested for Shooting Girlfriend in the Back

On 05-08-19 at approximately 6:11 a.m., operators in the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 hang-Up call. When operators called the number back, a male, later identified as the defendant, Ronald Crisp, answered the phone.

Crisp told operators that while “cleaning” his gun, he accidentally shot his girlfriend, Elizabeth Perez.

When a female in the background began to scream, the call was again disconnected.

West Hernando Middle SRO Helps Save Choking Student

On 05-07-19, during 7th grade lunch period at West Hernando Middle School in Brooksville, Deputy Shane Landgraff was in the cafeteria when he was notified of a student in distress.

Deputy Landgraff, the school’s assigned School Resource Officer, immediately made his way to the student, who when he arrived, appeared to be choking.

He noted the student was holding their neck and chest area.

When the student failed to respond, Deputy Landgraff immediately administered three back blows to the choking student.
