Man Shoots Family Member at Spring Hill Doctor’s Office - Homicide Investigation

On 07-26-21 just before 10:30 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the BioSpine Institute, located at 7101 Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill regarding shots fired from within the building.

Operators in the Emergency Communications Center began receiving 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired, a man in the building with a gun, people running out of the building, people screaming, etc.

Deputies along with Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene.

New traffic signal at intersection of US 19 and St. Andrews Boulevard

(Brooksville, FL) After multiple vehicle accidents at this intersection, the Hernando County Department of Public Works has placed a new traffic signal located at the intersection of Commercial Way (US 19) and St. Andrews Boulevard/Country Road. This is at the entrance to The Heather subdivision. It is currently in flash mode. The new signal will become fully operational beginning Monday, February 8, 2021 at 10 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to prepare themselves for the implementation of this new traffic pattern.

Spring Hill Woman Charged in Stabbing Incident

Date: December 21, 2020

On 12-20-2020 at 9:24 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Lydia Court in Spring Hill in reference to a stabbing incident.

According to witnesses, Heather Parris W/F DOB/08-19-1991 had been engaged in an ongoing argument with her fiancé for most of the day.

At around 8:30 p.m., her fiancé decided to leave the residence to separate himself from Parris. As he drove away, his friend, who was standing in the driveway, yelled an obscenity at Parris.

Barricaded Subject - Situation Resolved

On December 14, 2020, the barricaded subject has surrendered peacefully to deputies. 

The duration of this incident was approximately 6.5 hours.

We are thankful for another peaceful resolution and for the professionalism, compassion, and tactical wherewithal demonstrated by the men and women of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office who were assigned to this scene.

Traffic Stop Leads to Two Arrests for Possession of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl

Date: December 2, 2020

On 12-02-2020 at 12:52 a.m., a Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy on proactive patrol conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a vehicle traveling on Commercial Way.

The driver was identified as Julio Feliciano H/M DOB/01-11-1987 using the Florida Identification Card he provided. Feliciano indicated his driver’s license was suspended.

A query of his license indicated it had been suspended since 2009 for Driving Under the Influence.

A passenger, Melissa Croy W/F DOB 07-06-1979, was also detained at the scene.

Woman Charged After Deputies Find Counterfeit Bills, Printers, IDs, and Illegal Narcotics

On 11-18-20, Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting a criminal investigation at the Motel 6, located at 6172 Commercial Way in Spring Hill. The investigation involved the alleged theft of money and a firearm.

As part of the investigation, deputies needed to speak to the registered guest in motel room #119. The registered guest, identified as Chasity Lynn Hatch, permitted deputies to enter and provided consent for them to search the motel room.

Update: Detectives Seeking Information in 2018 Spring Hill Homicide


The Florida Sheriff’s Association Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program (CAAP) will pay an enhanced reward of $5,000 for information leading to the identity of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Alek Smith.

The CAAP reward of $5,000 is in addition to the Hernando County Crime Stoppers reward of $3,000, for a total reward of $8,000.

The person providing the information can/will remain anonymous. All tips must be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

Spring Hill Man Sentenced to 25-Years in Prison for Killing his Mother

A 53-year-old Spring Hill man was recently sentenced to 25-years in prison in connection with the death of his 74-year-old mother.

Albert Nickerson Jr. was found guilty of Aggravated Manslaughter of an Elderly Person and Neglect of an Elderly Person.

He was arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office back in 2017 following a yearlong investigation into the suspicious death of his mother, Beverly Nickerson.

On 09-24-2016, Beverly Nickerson was found deceased in her home.

Beverly lived with her son, Albert Nickerson.

Louisiana Man Arrested on Numerous Sex Charges Involving Teen

Date: September 29, 2020

On 09-27-2020 at 4 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in Spring Hill where the parents of a teenager found an adult man hiding in their child’s bedroom.

When deputies arrived on scene they found the man, later identified as Johnathan Lee Rossmoine DOB/08-19-1984, still hiding in the victim’s closet.
