Brooksville Drug Arrest by FHP Troopers

Brooksville, Fla. – While on routine patrol, FHP Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 2015 BMW 328i for an expired tag violation along northbound I-75 near the 301 milepost. The driver, later identified as Anh Tuan Nguyen, 37, of Brunswick, Georgia, displayed overtly nervous behavior and Troopers noticed an intense odor of cannabis. FHP K-9 “Titan” was deployed and quickly alerted.

Hernando County Hit & Run w/ Child & Arrest 1/22/20   4:30 PM

A 2003 Mitsubishi Galant driven by Stephanie Ann Perez, 33, of  Spring Hill Florida was traveling westbound on Clarion street. Kash Michael Rigaud, 5, of Spring Hill was traveling northbound from the driveway into the street and the path of the Galant. As a result, the driver collided with the 5-year-old. Ms. Perez then left the scene of the crash. A short time later the vehicle was located at 10407 Laval Street.  The driver was arrested by FHP troopers and taken to jail, charged with leaving the scene of the crash, no valid driver's license, no vehicle registration, and no insurance.

Update: 1:05 PM Fatal Hernando Crash Involving School Bus 1/15/20

A Hernando County school bus was traveling northbound on Commercial Way in the outside lane. A 2104 Ford F150, being driven by Michael James Scott, 69, of Crystal River, was traveling northbound behind the school bus. At the intersection of Bourassa Boulevard, the school bus stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the roadway prior to making a right turn onto Bourassa Boulevard. The Ford F150 failed to stop and collided with the rear of the bus. The impact propelled both vehicles forward to a final rest on Bourassa Boulevard.

Hernando County Injury Crash - Mariner Blvd/Chalmer Street 7:01 PM 12/31/19

A 1997 Honda Civic driven by Thomas C. Goins, 38, of Spring Hill was traveling southbound on Mariner Boulevard at the intersection of Chalmer Street. Jonathan Nunes, a 7-year-old, of Spring Hill, was walking or riding a tricycle westbound across the intersection with his father and sister. The Civic entered the path of the 7-year-old and, as a result, the front right portion of the vehicle collided with the child in the southwest section of the intersection. The child is listed in serious condition at St. Joseph's hospital.


Dover, Fla. – FHP Troopers are investigating an aggressive driving incident that occurred on December 23, 2019, along westbound I-4 near Branch Forbes Road at approximately 8:45 PM. The victim, Branden Rybak, 38, of Tampa, was uninjured during the encounter that saw his 2019 Volkswagen Jetta struck by a passing round from the as yet unidentified assailant while traveling upon the highway.

The suspect was described as a white male with facial hair operating a maroon-colored pickup truck, likely to be a Toyota Tacoma.

Fatal Hernando County Crash 12/21/19 at US19 and Applegate Drive

At 12:22 AM, 12/21/19 a 1995 Ford Mustang driven by Dale M Head, a 43-year-old male from Lexington Kentucky, was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound in the inside lane of US-19 approaching the intersection of Applegate Drive.  A second vehicle, a 2013 Kia Soul, driven by, 38-year-old Star Rajdl, was traveling westbound on Applegate drive approaching the intersection of US-19 and entered the intersection under a green traffic signal. The Mustang entered the intersection under a red traffic signal.

Fatal Hernando Crash on SR-589 12/6/19, 8:15 PM

A 2013 International Truck driven by 54-year-old Steven Dwayne Berry was traveling southbound on SR-589 in the outside lane, north of Springhill Drive.  A 48-year-old pedestrian, Corey Torre' Shoffner, ran into the path of the truck from the west paved shoulder. As a result, Mr. Shoffner suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the accident. Alcohol did not seem to be related to this incident and no charges are pending. 

Fatal Hernando County Crash

A 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling northbound on Coastal Boulevard at SR-50. For unknown reasons this vehicle crossed the raised center median and entered the southbound lanes of Coastal Boulevard and collided with the left side of a 2010 Dodge Ram that was stopped southbound on Coastal Boulevard at a red traffic signal. Following the crash, the driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to an area hospital and later expired. The two passengers of the Dodge Ram had minor injuries and were transported to Oakhill Hospital. 


Fatal Hernando County Crash 11/01/19

Stanley C Rockett, Jr. a 78-year-old male from Brooksville, FL was driving a 2015 Kia Soul southbound on Brookridge Boulevard in the outside lane when for reasons unknown the vehicle departed the roadway and entered the outside shoulder. It then traveled through several private yards before colliding with a palm tree and overturning. The vehicle then came to a final rest in the yard of 15711 Brookridge Boulevard. Mr. Rockett was then transported to an area hospital and later expired from injuries sustained during the crash. Alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the accident.
