Marker 48 Celebrates the John Reeves Incident

On March 2, 1965, John Reeves strolled near his home which was someplace near where Marker 48 is today and the Western Way Plaza.   As the story goes, Reeves noticed a strange disk-shaped object sitting on or near his property. It rested on legs extending from the bottom of the craft.   According to the legend, Reeves estimated the craft to be around 40-feet in diameter. Enough room for a few friends to comfortably take a road space trip.

Reeves allegedly flew to the moon with the beings from another world and continued to maintain a friendship throughout the years. To honor his new friends, Reeves constructed a model of their ship in his yard, which became a local phenomenon, and is still celebrated today.

The extraterrestrials that visit Marker 48 masquerade as plastic inflatables and more realistic-looking dolls, and are skilled at swiping your drink if you’re not paying attention.   They’re also big fans of the local band Infamous Unknowns.
