As we age, all those things that our parents promised would come true, do. The aches and pains, going to bed early, getting closer to shooting our age on the golf course and the really unpleasant task of understanding Medicare. So, perhaps today is your lucky day, no, I am not going to shave strokes off your round of golf, but I am going to offer advice on how to find the best plan for you.
First, find a broker that handles most of the plans out there. Going to an agent that only works for one plan is like going to a restaurant that only cooks chicken. I am sure it is very good chicken, but it lacks the selection that would allow you to customize your meal. We all want to see what else is offered, even if it’s not right for us.
A Broker can ask questions that you haven’t thought of and show you plans that you may not know even existed. This is a sample of the questions we ask; Are you a Veteran? Do you want a plan that allows you to go to any Dr? Is money a factor in your decision? What do you have now and are you happy with that plan? Are there Drs that you must have? How about hospitals? Are there any pre-existing conditions that require a particular specialist or facilities for treatment that makes YOU the most comfortable? And these are just for openers. Most of our clients come to us wondering how to put those questions in an easily understood format with an uncomplicated resolution. That is what we do and that is what brokers do. Having a variety of plans at our disposal and the education to understand how they work makes us an easy choice for you and hopefully makes your choice feel more like an educated choice instead of a guess.
