Hernando High Softball Seniors Honored in Drive-by Parade

ROOKSVILLE– On Friday, May 1st, Hernando High girls softball coach Kevin Bittinger and others held a senior softball parade for five of the 2020 graduating players at Tom Varn Park, the Lady Leopards home field.

“It was just sad that these girls didn’t get to finish off what they started,” Hernando High girls softball coach Kevin Bittinger said.

Seniors Ava Thompson, Hayden Kimbrough, Taliyah Dowdell, Alyssa Forte, and Sabrina Burr won their last played game against Crystal River (15-10) at Crystal River High School on March 10th. They ended their season with a 7-2 record.

Purple, yellow, and white balloons tied to the fence poles and posters decorated with glitter, photos, and hand-drawn hearts did indeed show these girls how much they were loved.

“They deserve this, they deserve their day,” Bittinger said. “This is us trying to do something special, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.
