In his July 1 letter to Class of 2020 graduates and their families, Hernando School Superintendent, John Stratton announced that the traditional graduation ceremonies would be canceled due to the increase in cases of COVID-19.

“As COVID-19 continues to present public health concerns, we have made the decision to cancel our face-to-face graduation ceremonies scheduled for the end of July and beginning of August. We originally postponed graduation ceremonies with the hope that the COVID situation would improve. Unfortunately, that is not the case at this time. I share your disappointment, but we have to do what we feel is in the best interest of all of our students, staff and community,” Superintendent John Stratton wrote.

Instead, graduates will be provided a virtual commencement created through the use of a variety of technologies to capture treasured features of the traditional graduation ceremony.

Diploma Graduates may pick up their diplomas, report cards and programs at their high school on July 21st between 4-7 PM. Please remain in your car and school staff will provide additional directions when you arrive.
