The Brooksville City Council celebrated residents Mary Johnson and Eloise Wright, 91 and 99 years of age, respectively. After proclamations venerating the two were read at Monday’s Oct. 16 city council meeting, Mayor Blake Bell awarded the plaques to Frederick Kelly Elks Lodge President Martha Maner, of which both women were members for over 50 years. Both were commended for their service to the lodge and the community of Brooksville. “Whereas, it is altogether fitting that the City of Brooksville and its citizens honor the life of [Mary Johnson and Eloise Wright] and thank her for her tireless efforts through the years to make our community a better place to live,” the proclamations stated.
