My name is Betsy Ahrens and I live in Brooksville, Florida. I am assistant Vice-Principal at Esther’s School in Spring Hill and Vendor Coordinator for the Brooksville Blueberry Festival. I would like to honor my grandfather, Peter Cavanagh; my dad, Fred Ahrens; my son, Jeff Vargas and now my grandson, Nicholas Vargas, presently stationed in Mayport.
They were all in the US Navy and I am so proud of all of them. My grandfather was in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, my dad was a Seabee, my son was assigned to the USS Independence and my grandson is assigned to the USS Sullivans. My son is now living in San Diego, he is a Sr. Cinematic Producer at SONY Playstation.
I hold my head high. I am proud to come from such a line of awesome men.
