The search for a stolen vehicle resulted in the recovery of the car and the arrest of a couple on multiple drug charges.

Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Public Relations Manager Denise Moloney said that just after 3 a.m. On Dec. 7, deputies were told that an allegedly stolen 2015 red Nissan Sentra bearing the Florida license tag IF63SJ was spotted heading north on Commercial Way from County Line Road in Spring Hill. The vehicle had been reported stolen on Dec. 1.

When they began to search the area, deputies spotted the sedan backed into a parking space at the Denny’s restaurant at 1445 Wendy Court in Spring Hill. They found Taylor Audrey Szuba, age 25, and Luis Andres Reyes Saucedo, 33, who were both named as suspects in the original theft report, inside the restaurant.

When deputies approached the pair, Szuba removed the car keys from her person before the couple was detained.

While searching Saucedo, deputies found a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, which later tested positive for 32.4 grams of methamphetamine.

As a result of their search of the stolen vehicle, deputies found a black purse on the front passenger seat, which Szuba said belonged to her.

Inside, they found a small plastic bag containing a clear, crystal-like substance and a black jar identified as a “grinder,” Moloney said. The substance field tested positive for 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, she said.

They also found a plastic bag containing three blue pills that were later determined to be Alprazolam, a schedule IV-controlled substance, and a hypodermic needle.

According to Moloney, Szuba did not have a prescription nor the proper packaging for the pills.

As a result, Szuba was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Detention Center on one charge of Grand Theft Auto, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on $11,000 bond.

Saucedo was also arrested and booked on a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine. He is being held on $50,000 bond.

The stolen Nissan sedan was returned to its owner.
