A medical emergency is being blamed for the death of a man who was driving a golf cart in Brooksville.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Public Affairs Officer (PAO) Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 9, a 74-year-old Brooksville man was driving a golf cart west on the golf cart access path near Meetinghouse Lane when he experienced a medical emergency.

As a result, the golf cart left the roadway and struck a tree. The man was thrown from the golf cart into a nearby pond.

He died at the scene of the incident.
