A medical emergency is being blamed for causing multiple single-car collisions resulting in the death of a man from Brooksville.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Public Affairs Officer (PAO) Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that shortly after 3 p.m. on Dec. 26 a Hyundai Elantra sedan driven by a 75-year-old man from Brooksville was traveling west on Cortez Boulevard east of Grove Road when he experienced a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle.

As a result, the sedan left the roadway and collided with a building at 14442 Cortez Blvd., before slamming into a trailer attached to an unoccupied pick-up truck parked at the same location.

The Hyundai finally stopped after colliding with a tree.

The Brooksville man was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
