Brooksville city officials and staff broke ground on Jan. 17 for the addition of a splash pad at Tom Varn Park. Before the shovels turned the soil, Brooksville Mayor Blake Bell and Kiwanis President Jared Tanner welcomed those who witnessed the groundbreaking for the splash pad, which is expected to open in April 2024. The 1,000-square-foot area on the west side of the park will contain various water features to be enjoyed by 93 kids at its maximum capacity. “It’s all about the kids for the Kiwanis Club of Brooksville, it’s very important to us,” Tanner said. The City and the Kiwanis Club of Brooksville are partnering in the funding of the $478,000 amenity, each contributing 50%, or $239,000.
