A pair of traffic stops resulted in the arrests of two men accused of drug possession and trafficking, one for possessing pounds of methamphetamine.

According to Kasey Johnson, community relations coordinator for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), on Jan. 16, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Thomas Roger Chrystie for exceeding the speed limit on Taylor Street in Brooksville.

During the traffic stop, the K9 unit conducted a sniff-test of the vehicle and alerted deputies of narcotics there.

Upon a further search of the vehicle, deputies found 5 pounds of methamphetamine, a large sum of money, a loaded handgun, ammunition, smaller amounts of multiple other narcotics, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Chrystie later admitted to owning the drugs and the firearm, which he said he stole. Investigators later learned that the handgun had been reported stolen from the Orlando area.

Deputies arrested Chrystie and he was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center on charges of armed methamphetamine trafficking, possession of amphetamine with intent to sell, possession of oxycodone, possession of morphine and possession of New Legend Drug (Sildenafil, Tadalafil). He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chrystie is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on bond.

In an unrelated incident, on Jan. 24, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle whose driver failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Cortez Boulevard and Shoal Line Boulevard.

During the stop, a K9 unit alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics somewhere in the vehicle.

In a subsequent search, deputies found a passenger, Jammie Lee Nadeau, 37, in the backseat along with trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl, a syringe loaded with methamphetamine, a digital scale, and new and used plastic baggies for the packaging of illegal narcotics.

Nadeau was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Detention Center on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
