Big Bushytail Bash

This past Saturday was the biggest, yet soggy-est, day of Florida squirrel hunting yet! The fourth annual Brooksville Squirrel Hunt, sponsored by the Brooksville Outdoors Conservation Alliance and hosted at Stable Faith Cowboy Church, took place, and wow, what a turnout!

This event has quickly become a huge part of our community, drawing outdoorsmen from hundreds of miles around. The dozens of co-sponsors, businesses and families donate cash and prizes to keep our kids in the outdoors and out of trouble. Do you know the old saying, “Take your kids hunting, and you won’t have to hunt for your kids?”

The hours and hours put in by hunt directors Courtney Vohlberg and Michelle Payne in order to keep this event organized and growing cannot be shown nearly enough gratitude. What a tremendous testament of love for the community! There were 388 participants overall, 194 two-man teams, and 188 of them were kids at this year’s event!

And here are the winners, as reported to me by Hunt Master Michelle Payne. “We want to congratulate all of our winners and everyone who participated, regardless of where you placed in the competition. We know that there were so many memories made that will last a lifetime! It was a long, wet day, but it made for good competition.
