A man originally charged with lewd and lascivious battery and traveling to meet a minor after using a computer to lure a child had his charges amended to child abuse without causing great bodily harm and unlawful use of a communication device to commit a felony. He pleaded no contest to the amended charges.
According to the arrest affidavit, Seth Allasaud Amour Chin, 24, began communicating with an underage girl on May 9, 2023, through Facebook Messenger. Just two days later, Chin, a resident of St. Petersburg, rode his motorcycle to Spring Hill to meet the girl in person.
Chin arrived in Spring Hill around midnight on May 10, where the girl had snuck out of her home to meet him. The two went to a nearby church, where they smoked marijuana that Chin had brought with him.
The marijuana was reportedly laced with an unknown substance, causing the girl to lose consciousness. When she regained awareness, she found Chin attempting to have intercourse with her. The girl said that she told Chin she did not want to have intercourse with him, but she “let it happen.” Although he later claimed he was unaware of her age, their prior conversations indicated otherwise.
Following the incident, the girl informed Chin’s girlfriend about what had occurred at the church. Chin became upset, expressing concern that his girlfriend—who was pregnant with their second child and already the mother of his first—would leave him.
Chin admitted to communicating with a girl from Hernando County and meeting her to smoke marijuana. He stated that they walked around the church and kissed, but denied engaging in sexual activity.
He was arrested on November 16, 2024, and charged with lewd and lascivious battery, as well as traveling to meet a minor after using a computer to lure a child.
At a pretrial hearing on April 25, 2025, Chin’s charges were amended to child abuse without causing great bodily harm and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He pleaded no contest to those charges.
For each charge, he received a sentence of three years and six months in state prison to serve concurrently. He has served three months and two days.
