In her finest, most beautiful essence, Mother Nature can be both a powerful teacher and a beautiful source of inspiration. In this week's Show Us Your 'Sun'shine, we celebrate nature at its most radiant--and educational.

Nature as inspiration

For this week's art submission, Alexia Ludwick brings us a vision of summertime fun and resplendence in her work, 'The Dock in Blue Hill, Maine.'

Nature as education

The Brooksville Sr. chapter of Future Farmers of America excels at the art of agriscience; a science born from the study and the cultivation of the earth.

At the virtual Florida FFA State Celebration for 2019-2020, Brooksville Sr. FFA earned nearly 20 top honors in multiple categories, including Premier Chapter with special recognition in Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture, and Florida's Finest Chapter. Rick Ahrens, Brooksville Sr. FFA Chapter Advisor and Agriscience/Veterinary Assistant Teacher at Hernando High School (where the chapter is based), was named Florida FFA's FFA Advisor of the Year for 2020.

And now Angela Miller, vice-principal of Hernando High School, has issued a public statement regarding the amazing success of the chapter hosted in affiliation with her school.

"The administration and staff are so proud of Mr. Ahrens, Ms. Nelson and their students.  The FFA program is a constant point of pride," said Miller. "Having attended the FFA celebration last year, I was able to witness our advisors and students in action. They did not disappoint."

Just as these students find their inspiration in nature, Miller herself is inspired by the Brooksville Sr. FFA.

"I was so inspired and encouraged by the leadership our students demonstrated," she said. "Without a doubt, this year's celebration was just as outstanding and impressive."

"Congratulations to HHS's students and advisors on a job well-done. Best of

luck at nationals," she said. "And of course, congratulations to Mr. Ahrens for being recognized as  Florida's FFA Advisor of the year...well-deserved!"
