At the regular meeting on June 20, 2022, the Brooksville City Council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning petition for the property at 419 Howell Avenue and the structure upon it to PDP-Commercial. The owners of the property plan to use the structure as a “quaint sit-down breakfast/lunch eatery for crepes and coffee; a place to socialize.”

This property is on the west side of Howell Avenue across the street from the First
Baptist Church. It is located south of Florida Avenue, and north of the historic Tangerine Motel.

The property was initially zoned R1-B, which is Residential with special exception uses such as Lodging houses or Bed and breakfast establishments. The PDP-C rezoning will allow for the small restaurant and cafe to operate.

The Petitioner is now required to submit a drainage plan, permit application, and calculations to the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) to go forward with the construction.
